Adjusting Graft Control Parameters
Context
To quickly resume multicast forwarding to a pruned network segment, the router sends a Graft message to its upstream neighbor and starts a timer on the upstream interface. If the router does not receive multicast data when the timer expires, it retransmits the Graft message to the upstream neighbor. You can control multicast packet forwarding by adjusting the graft control parameters to meet requirements in various scenarios.
Procedure
- Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
- Run interface interface-type interface-number
The interface view is displayed.
- Run pim timer graft-retry interval
The retransmission interval of Graft messages is configured.
Verifying the Configuration
After adjusting the retransmission interval of Graft messages on an interface, check PIM-DM graft information and PIM information on the interface to see whether the configuration meets the service requirements.
Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] interface [ interface-type interface-number | up | down ] [ verbose ] command to check PIM information on an interface.
Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] grafts command to check information about PIM-DM Graft messages that have not been acknowledged by the upstream neighbor.
