Configuring ARP Unicast Probe
Configuring ARP Unicast Probe
When the peer device cannot accept broadcast packets, you
can configure ARP unicast probe on the local device. The local device
then sends a unicast ARP Request packet to detect whether the peer
device exists.
Context
On some special networks,
user terminals do not accept broadcast packets to ensure network security.
Therefore, these user terminals directly discard the received broadcast
ARP Request packets and other devices on the networks cannot learn
the ARP entries.
After ARP unicast probe is configured, the
device sends a unicast ARP Request packet to detect whether a user
terminal exists.
Procedure
Run the arp send-packetip-addressmac-addressinterfaceinterface-typeinterface-number [ vidvid [ cevidcevid ] ] command in any view to configure ARP unicast
probe.
After ARP unicast probe is configured, the device sends a
unicast ARP Request packet.
