Power Distribution Planning
Before installing devices, work out a power distribution plan for optimal device security.
Power Distribution Principles
Table 2-9 lists the power distribution principles that the storage system must comply with.
Scenario |
Principle |
---|---|
Equipment room |
The power supply of a cabinet has a backup line. |
The input voltages to a cabinet must be the same. |
The power distribution box (PDB) of a cabinet supports two independent power supplies. The failure of one power supply does not affect the other power supply. |
The rated load traffic of the power cables meets the maximum operating power of the cabinets and devices. The circuit breakers and power cables match design requirements. |
The power input terminal of a cabinet is convenient, safe, and reliable for connection. |
Power distribution inside a cabinet |
Power input lines of a cabinet are redundant and connect to different branches of the power supply. |
The devices in the cabinet must be protected against overcurrent and short circuit. |
The power distribution of the cabinet supports online maintenance of devices (excluding the devices that require device-level backup and auxiliary devices that do not affect the services in the cabinet). |
Configure a PDB in the cabinet, and connect the external power supply to the PDB. Then the PDB supplies power to the devices in the cabinet. |
Devices in a cabinet obtain power from the PDB in the cabinet and cannot obtain power from another cabinet. |
The actuators of the circuit breakers in a PDB operate in the same direction. If the actuators operate vertically, moving them upward connects to the power supply, while moving them downward disconnects from the power supply. If the actuators operate horizontally, moving them to the left disconnects from the power supply, while moving them to the right connects to the power supply. |
The power cables and signal cables should be separately routed in the cabinet. The distance between these two kinds of cables should be greater than 3 cm. |
Each circuit breaker in the PDB can only connect one load. |
The power of the devices in the cabinet should match the rated current of the protection components and that the devices and enclosures of the same model should obtain power from the protection components with the same rated current. |
When a circuit breaker that needs onsite cable connection is vertically installed, feed cables from the top to the bottom of the breaker. |
