This chapter describes the event levels and event signal flows.
Event Level
An event level indicates the severity of the event to the user services.Event severities of storage systems are shown inxxx
Event level |
Description |
---|---|
Critical |
This level indicates that a fault has caused service interruption or device failure. Recovery measures should be taken immediately. |
Major |
This level indicates that a fault has certain impact on the device or system performance. Measures should be taken as soon as possible to prevent more serious faults. |
Warning |
This level indicates that a fault has no impact on the device. The system detects a potential or an imminent fault that is about to affect the services. However, correction measures need to be taken to prevent more serious faults. |
Information |
This level provides some instructions and has no impact on the system. |
On DeviceManager, you can view events of all severity levels. This document introduces events at the
Critical, Major, and Warning levels.
Event Signal Flow
If the storage system is faulty, the module in which the fault occurs reports the fault to the service control module and alarm module. The service control module and alarm module analyze the fault information. Then the service control module reports the fault information to the underlying module for further handling. The alarm module reports the fault information to the device alarm indicator to generate a visual alarm, and to the DeviceManager through the maintenance interface to display the alarm status and cause.
Figure 1-1 shows the event signal flow figure of the storage system.
(1) Indicates that a module is faulty, and the fault information is reported to the service control module and alarm module.
(2) Indicates that the service control module and alarm module analyze the fault information, and then respectively report it. Herein:
- The service control module reports the fault information to the underlying module for further handling.
- The alarm module reports the fault information to the device alarm indicator to generate a visual alarm, and to the DeviceManager through the maintenance interface to display the alarm status and cause.
