Creating a Clone CG

Procedure

1. Choose Data Protection > Protection Entities > Protection Groups > Clone CGs.
2. Click Create.

   The Create Clone CG page is displayed.

   Alternatively, perform any of the following operations to go to the Create Clone CG page:

   • Choose Services > Block Service > LUN Groups.
     • Select the desired LUN group and choose Protect > Create Clone.
     • Click on the right of the desired LUN group and select Create Clone.
     • Click the name of the desired LUN group. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab, select Clone from the drop-down list, and then click Create.
   • Choose Data Protection > Protection Entities > Protection Groups > Protection Groups.
     • Select the desired PG and click Create Clone.
     • Click on the right of the desired PG and select Create Clone.
     • Click the name of the desired PG. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab, select Clone from the drop-down list, and then click Create.
     • Click the name of the desired PG. In the upper right corner of the page that is displayed, click Operation and select Create Clone.
     • Click the value in the Clone CGs column of the desired PG if the value is not 0. On the Protection tab page, select Clone from the drop-down list and click Create.

3. Select the PG for which you want to create a clone CG.

   If you go to the Create Clone CG page by choosing Services > Block Service > LUN Groups or Data Protection > Protection Entities > Protection Groups > Protection Groups, you do not need to select a PG.

4. Specify a name for the PG. The selected LUN group will be added to the PG.
   • This step is required when you go to the Create Clone CG page by choosing Services > Block Service > LUN Groups and the selected LUN group has not been added to a PG.
   • The name must be unique.
   • The name contains letters, digits, underscores (_), periods (.), and hyphens (-).
   • The name must contain 1 to 31 characters.

5. Set the name of the clone CG.
   • The name must be unique.
   • The name contains letters, digits, underscores (_), periods (.), and hyphens (-).
   • The name must contain 1 to 31 characters.

6. (Optional) Set the description of the clone CG.

   The description can be left blank or contain up to 255 characters.

7. Set Pair Creation to Automatic or Manual.
   • Automatic
   • Manual
     1. Click Configure next to Clone Pair.

        The Configure Pair page is displayed.

     2. Configure clone pairs.
        1. In the list of the Source LUNs area, select a source LUN.
        2. In the list of the Target LUNs area, select a target LUN.
        3. Click Add to Pair. The created clone pair is displayed in the Clone Pairs list.
        4. Click OK.

        If Pair Creation is set to Manual, you need to create clone pairs for all LUNs in the PG.

8. Set the Copy Speed. Possible values are Low, Medium, High, and Highest.
   • Low: 0 to 5 MB/s. Data copy takes a long period.
   • Medium: 10 MB/s to 20 MB/s. Data copy takes a long period.
   • High: 40 MB/s to 70 MB/s. Data copy takes a short period.
   • Highest: 1 GB/s (with host services) to 1.5 GB/s (no host services) for a single controller enclosure. Data copy takes the shortest period.

9. (Optional) Select Synchronize Now.

   If this option is selected, synchronization will start immediately after a clone CG is created.

10. Click OK.
