Starting Synchronization or Reverse Synchronization
This section describes how to start synchronization or reverse synchronization. In this way, the storage system can start synchronizing data of source objects in the CG to target LUNs or copying the data from target LUNs to source objects.
Prerequisites
- The clone CG contains clone pair members.
- Synchronization can be started only when the capacity of the secondary LUN is greater than or equal to that of the primary LUN. Reverse synchronization can be started only when the capacity of the primary LUN is greater than or equal to that of the secondary LUN.
- Health Status of the clone CG is Normal.
- Running Status of the clone CG to be synchronized is Unsynchronized or Normal.
- Running Status of the clone CG to be reversely synchronized is Normal.
Procedure
- Choose Data Protection > Protection Entities > Protection Groups > Clone CGs.
- Start synchronization or reverse synchronization.
- Start synchronization.
Select the desired clone CG and choose Synchronize > Start.
Alternatively, perform any of the following operations to start synchronization:
- Click
on the right of the desired clone CG and select Start Sync.
- Click the name of the clone CG. In the upper right corner of the page that is displayed, click Operation and then select Start Sync.
- Choose Services > Block Service > LUN Groups.
- Click the name of the desired LUN group. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab and select Clone from the drop-down list. Select the desired clone CG and choose Synchronize > Start.
- Click the name of the desired LUN group. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab and select Clone from the drop-down list. Click
on the right of the desired clone CG and select Start Sync.
- Choose Data Protection > Protection Entities > Protection Groups > Protection Groups.
- Click the name of the desired PG. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab and select Clone from the drop-down list. Select the desired clone CG and choose Synchronize > Start.
- Click the name of the desired PG. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab and select Clone from the drop-down list. Click
on the right of the desired clone CG and select Start Sync.
- Click the value in the Clone CGs column of the desired PG if the value is not 0. On the Protection tab page, select Clone from the drop-down list. Select the desired clone CG and choose Synchronize > Start.
- Click the value in the Clone CGs column of the desired PG if the value is not 0. On the Protection tab page, select Clone from the drop-down list. Click
on the right of the desired clone CG and select Start Sync.
- Click
- Start reverse synchronization.
- Select the desired clone CG and choose Reverse Sync > Start.
The Start Reverse Synchronizing Clone CG page is displayed.
Alternatively, perform any of the following operations to go to the Start Reverse Synchronizing Clone CG page:
- Click
on the right of the desired clone CG and select Start Reverse Sync.
- Click the name of the clone CG. In the upper right corner of the page that is displayed, click Operation and then select Start Reverse Sync.
- Choose Services > Block Service > LUN Groups.
- Click the name of the desired LUN group. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab and select Clone from the drop-down list. Select the desired clone CG and choose Reverse Sync > Start.
- Click the name of the desired LUN group. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab and select Clone from the drop-down list. Click
on the right of the desired clone CG and select Start Reverse Sync.
- Choose Data Protection > Protection Entities > Protection Groups > Protection Groups.
- Click the name of the desired PG. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab and select Clone from the drop-down list. Select the desired clone CG and choose Reverse Sync > Start.
- Click the name of the desired PG. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab and select Clone from the drop-down list. Click
on the right of the desired clone CG and select Start Reverse Sync.
- Click the value in the Clone CGs column of the desired PG if the value is not 0. On the Protection tab page, select Clone from the drop-down list. Select the desired clone CG and choose Reverse Sync > Start.
- Click the value in the Clone CGs column of the desired PG if the value is not 0. On the Protection tab page, select Clone from the drop-down list. Click
on the right of the desired clone CG and select Start Reverse Sync.
- Click
- On the Start Reverse Synchronizing Clone CG page, set Reverse Sync Type. The options are as follows:
- FullCopy: copies all data of an object to another object.
- DiffCopy: copies only differential data between two objects.
- Select the desired clone CG and choose Reverse Sync > Start.
- Start synchronization.
- Click OK.
Confirm your operation as prompted.
