Application Scenarios
HyperClone allows you to create multiple physical copies of a source LUN and assign them to different applications. In this way, these applications can access the same data simultaneously while having no impact on the source LUN's data.
HyperClone is typically applied to:
- Data backup and restoration
- Data analysis
- Data reproduction
Data Backup and Restoration
HyperClone generates one or multiple copies of source data to achieve point-in-time backup, which can be used to restore the source data in the event of data corruption. Figure 1-5 illustrates data backup and restoration in a clone pair.
Data Analysis and Reproduction
Data analysis researches on a great amount of data in order to extract useful information, draw conclusions, and support decision-making. The analysis services use data on target LUNs to prevent contention of source LUN resources between the analysis and production services, ensuring system performance.
Data reproduction means that HyperClone can create multiple copies of the source LUN for various purposes.
