Creating a Clone Pair

Prerequisites

• The clone license is valid.
• A LUN has been created and its Running Status is Normal.

Procedure

1. Choose Data Protection > Protection Entities > LUNs > Clone Pairs.
2. Click Create.

   The Create Clone Pair page is displayed on the right.

   Alternatively, perform any of the following operations to go to the Create Clone Pair page:

   • Choose Services > Block Service > LUNs.
     • Select the desired LUN and choose Protect > Create Clone.
     • Click on the right of the desired LUN and select Create Clone.
     • Click the name of the desired LUN. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab, select Clone from the drop-down list, and then click Create.
   • Choose Data Protection > Protection Entities > LUNs > LUNs.
     • Select the desired LUN and click Create Clone.
     • Click on the right of the desired LUN and select Create Clone.
     • Click the name of the desired LUN. On the page that is displayed, click the Protection tab, select Clone from the drop-down list, and then click Create.
     • Click the name of the desired LUN. In the upper right corner of the page that is displayed, click Operation and select Create Clone.
     • Click the value in the Clone Pairs column of the desired LUN if the value is not 0. On the Protection tab page, select Clone from the drop-down list and click Create.

3. Select the LUNs for which you want to create clone pairs in the Available LUNs area and click to add them to the Selected LUNs area.

   When you choose Services > Block Service > LUNs or Data Protection > Protection Entities > LUNs > LUNs to create a clone pair, you need to click to select desired LUNs.

4. Click Next.
5. Set properties for the clone pair.
   Table 2-1 describes the parameters.

   Table 2-1 Clone pair parameters

   Parameter	Description
   Pair Creation	Mode in which the clone pair is created. Possible modes are Automatic and Manual.
   Clone Pairs	Configure a clone pair. NOTE: If Pair Creation is set to Manual, click Configure in Clone Pairs. On the displayed Configure Pair page, manually configure a clone pair as follows: In the Source LUNs area, select the source LUN. In the Target LUNs area, select the target LUN. Click Add to Pair. The created pair is displayed in the Clone Pairs list. Click OK.
   Target LUN Name	Name of the target LUN. NOTE: If Pair Creation is set to Automatic, the storage system creates a LUN by using the Target LUN Name.
   Copy Speed	Copy speed of the clone pair. Possible options are Low, Medium, High, and Highest. NOTE: Low: 0 to 5 MB/s. Data copy takes a long period. Medium: 10 MB/s to 20 MB/s. Data copy takes a relatively short period. High: 40 MB/s to 70 MB/s. Data copy takes a short period. Highest: 1 GB/s (with host services) to 1.5 GB/s (no host services) for a single controller enclosure. Data copy takes the shortest period.
   Synchronize Now	Indicates whether to perform synchronization immediately after the clone pair is created.

6. Click Next.

   A summary is displayed.

7. Confirm information of the created clone pair and click OK.

   Confirm your operation as prompted.
