Hardware models and configurations of the HyperMetro storage systems

• The hardware models meet the requirements described in Storage Interconnection Rules.
• (Recommended) The hardware configurations (such as the number of controllers and interface modules) are the same.

Verify that the hardware models, hardware configurations, and license files of the two DCs all match those listed in the Bill of Quotation (BOQ).

HyperMetro license

Both storage systems must have the HyperMetro license.

Software version

The software versions of both storage systems must be identical.

On the storage systems, run the show version all command to query the version.

Switch license

The switch has the long-distance transmission license (if the distance between the DCs is over 10 km) and cascading license.

Check the switch based on the BOQ.

DWDM device

The DWDM device is deployed.

Check the device based on the BOQ or on the live network at the field.

Compatibility

Multipathing software

Meets the HyperMetro compatibility requirements.

Check the compatibility using the Huawei Storage Interoperability Navigator.

Operating system and application version of the application server

Meets the HyperMetro compatibility requirements.

Switch

Meets the HyperMetro compatibility requirements.

Network quality

Distance between the active-active DCs, latency, and packet loss rate

• The requirements for database services are as follows:
  • Distance < 100 km
  • Round-trip time (RTT) ≤ 1 ms
  • No jitter or packet loss
  • Bit error rate (BER) ≤ 10^-12
• The requirements for non-database services (such as the virtualization platform and file system cluster) are as follows:
  • Distance < 300 km
  • RTT ≤ 10 ms
  • No jitter or packet loss
  • BER ≤ 10^-12

Perform the following operations on the storage systems:

• Check the RTT and packet loss rate.

  On the storage systems, run the ping -l command to check the RTT and packet loss rate of network. For example, you can send three 1024-bit packets from the local eth2 port.

  Storage: minisystem> ping -I eth2 -c 3 -s 1024 9.41.51.60 PING 9.41.51.60 (9.41.51.60) from 9.41.51.22 eth2: 1024(1052) bytes of data. 
  1032 bytes from 9.41.51.60: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=4.07 ms 1032 bytes from 9.41.51.60: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.239 ms 
  1032 bytes from 9.41.51.60: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.233 ms

  rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.233/1.515/4.075/1.810 ms

  NOTE:

  In this example, 9.41.51.60 is the IP address of the management network port on the peer storage system.

• Check the BER.

  Log in to the switch and run the relevant commands to collect statistics. For details about the commands, see the switch user guide.
