Creating a HyperMetro Domain
The HyperMetro domain defines the relationships among the local and remote devices as well as the quorum server.
Prerequisites
At least one remote device has been added to the storage system.
Context
- A HyperMetro domain is a collection of local and remote devices and a quorum server (which is optional). It defines the relationships among the local and remote devices as well as the quorum server.
- During initial synchronization, the remote device serves as the secondary end of HyperMetro.
- A quorum server must be added to the HyperMetro domain if you want to use the quorum server arbitration mode. You must create a quorum server for the local and remote storage systems.
- If no quorum server is configured for the HyperMetro domain, the preferred site continues providing services by default in the event of a fault. If a quorum server is configured, the quorum server determines which site continues providing services in the event of a fault.
- When creating a HyperMetro domain, you only need to perform the operation on the local storage system.
- After creating a HyperMetro domain, you can create HyperMetro pairs or CGs in the domain.
Procedure
- Choose Data Protection > Configuration > HyperMetro Domains.
- Click
.
The Create HyperMetro Domain page is displayed.
- Specify the name and description for the HyperMetro domain.
- The name must be unique.
- The name contains 1 to 31 characters.
- The name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.) and must start with a letter or digit.
- The description can be left blank or contain up to 127 characters.
- Determine whether to enable Quorum Server.
- If you enable Quorum Server:
- In the Remote Device area, select a remote device that you want to add to the HyperMetro domain.
- In the Quorum Server area, select a quorum server that you want to add to the HyperMetro domain.
- You can click
to create a quorum server.
- Set Name and Description for the quorum server.

to add or remove a link.
- Configure at least one local and one remote quorum link.
- To ensure reliability, it is recommended that you add at least one link from the quorum server to each storage controller.
- This operation will create a quorum server on both the local and remote storage systems.
- You can click
- Set Name and Description for the quorum server.
- If you use the static priority mode:
In the Remote Device area, select a remote device that you want to add to the HyperMetro domain.
- If you enable Quorum Server:
- Click OK.
Confirm your operation as prompted.
