Riser Cards and PCIe Slots
PCIe Riser Modules
Figure 2-24, Figure 2-25, Figure 2-26, Figure 2-27, and Figure 2-28 show riser cards supported by I/O modules 1 and 2 in a server.
- The riser card shown in Figure 2-24 can be installed in I/O module 1 or 2. It provides PCIe slots 1 to 3 when installed in I/O module 1 and PCIe slots 4 to 6 when installed in I/O module 2.
- The riser card shown in Figure 2-25 supports full-height full-length dual-width GPUs. It provides PCIe slots 2 and 3 when installed in I/O module 1 and PCIe slots 5 and 6 when installed in I/O module 2.
- Use the GPU power cable delivered with the server. Do not use any other power cable.
- Only slots 2 and 5 support full-height full-length dual-width GPUs.
- For a server with 8 x 2.5-inch SAS/SATA + 12 x 2.5-inch NVMe drives, I/O modules 1 and 2 must be configured with dedicated NVMe riser cards, as shown in Figure 2-26. Port A, port B, and port C are Slimline cable connectors.
- If I/O modules 1 and 2 are configured with two 2.5-inch rear drives respectively, both I/O modules 1 and 2 support x16 riser cards, as shown in Figure 2-27. If installed in I/O module 1, the riser card uses PCIe slot 3. If installed in I/O module 2, the riser card uses PCIe slot 6.
- If the server is configured with Kunpeng 920 7260 or 5250 processors, the riser card shown in Figure 2-28 can be installed in I/O module 1 or 2. By default, the riser card is installed in I/O module 2. When installed in I/O module 1, it occupies PCIe slots 1 to 3 and only slot 3 (x8) is available. When installed in I/O module 2, it occupies PCIe slots 4 to 6 and only slot 6 (x8) is available. When the server is configured with Kunpeng 920 5220 or 3210 processors, the SAS riser card can be installed only in I/O module 2 and occupies PCIe slots 4 to 6. Slots 4 and 5 do not output signals, and slot 6 supports x8 signals.
Figure 2-29, Figure 2-30, and Figure 2-31 show riser cards supported by I/O module 3.
- When installed in I/O module 3, the riser card shown in Figure 2-29 provides PCIe slots 7 and 8.
- When installed in I/O module 3, the riser card shown in Figure 2-30 provides PCIe slots 7 and 8. Slot 7 supports only the Atlas 300I inference card (model 3000), and slot 8 supports other Ascend cards.
- When installed in I/O module 3, the riser card shown in Figure 2-31 provides PCIe slot 8.
PCIe Slots
Figure 2-32 shows the PCIe slots on the rear panel of the Atlas 800 inference server (model 3000).
I/O module 1 provides slots 1 to 3, I/O module 2 provides slots 4 to 6, and I/O module 3 provides slots 7 and 8.
- If I/O module 1 uses a 2-slot PCIe riser module, slot 1 is unavailable.
- If I/O module 2 uses a 2-slot PCIe riser module, slot 4 is unavailable.
- If I/O module 3 uses a 1-slot PCIe riser module, slot 7 is unavailable.
- AI accelerator cards of different specifications cannot be installed in the same chassis.
- Dedicated riser cards are required for installing Atlas 300I inference cards (model 3000) in slots 1 to 3 on I/O module 1, slots 4 to 6 on I/O module 2, or slots 7 to 8 on I/O module 3. The width of each slot on a riser card is x8.
- If I/O module 1 and I/O module 2 are configured with an Atlas 300I inference card (model 3000), you must select riser cards whose BOM number is 02312QJV. Each riser card (BOM code: 02312QJV) can be configured with a maximum of 3 x Atlas 300I inference card (model 3000). Other PCIe cards are not supported.
- If I/O module 3 is configured with an Atlas 300I inference card (model 3000), you must select a riser card whose BOM number is 02312QJW or 02314EGU.
- Each riser card (BOM code: 02312QJW) can be configured with a maximum of 2 x Atlas 300I inference card (model 3000). Other PCIe cards are not supported.
- Each riser card (BOM code: 02314EGU) can be configured with one Atlas 300I inference card (model 3000).
- The principles for configuring an Atlas 300T training card (model 9000) are as follows:
- Only the 8 x 2.5-inch drive configuration is supported.
- A maximum of two Atlas 300T training cards (model 9000) are supported.
- If I/O module 1 and I/O module 2 are configured with Atlas 300T training cards (model 9000), they can be installed only in slots 1 and 4, and riser cards (BOM code: 02580145) are required. A maximum of one Atlas 300T training card (model 9000) can be configured for each riser card (BOM code: 02580145).
- The maximum operating temperature is 30°C (86°F).
- The principles for configuring an Atlas 300I inference card (model 3010) are as follows:
- A maximum of eight Atlas 300I inference cards (model 3010) are supported.
- The maximum operating temperature is 35°C (95°F).
- The principles for configuring an Atlas 300I Pro inference card are as follows:
- A maximum of eight Atlas 300I Pro inference cards are supported.
- The maximum operating temperature is 35°C (95°F).
- The principles for configuring an Atlas 300V Pro video analysis card are as follows:
- A maximum of eight Atlas 300V Pro video analysis cards are supported.
- The maximum operating temperature is 35°C (95°F).
- The principles for configuring an Atlas 300V video analysis card are as follows:
- A maximum of eight Atlas 300V video analysis cards are supported.
- The maximum operating temperature is 35°C (95°F).
- The principles for configuring an Atlas 300T Pro training card (model 9000) are as follows:
- Only the 8 x 2.5-inch drive configuration is supported.
- A maximum of two Atlas 300T Pro training cards (model 9000) are supported.
- If I/O module 1 and I/O module 2 are configured with Atlas 300T Pro training cards (model 9000), they can be installed only in slots 1 and 4, and riser cards (BOM code: 02580145) are required. A maximum of one Atlas 300T Pro training card (model 9000) can be configured for each riser card (BOM code: 02580145).
- The maximum operating temperature is 30°C (86°F).
