Connecting Cables to a Mouse, Keyboard, and VGA Port
The front and rear panels of the server have DB15 VGA ports but no standard PS/2 port for a keyboard or mouse.
You can connect a keyboard and mouse to the USB port on the front or rear panel based on site installation conditions. There are two connection methods:
- Connect the keyboard and mouse to the USB ports.
- Connect the keyboard and mouse using a USB-to-PS/2 cable.
- Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see ESD Protection.
- Plug the USB connector on the PS/2 cable into the USB port on the front or rear panel of the server.
- Connect the connectors on the other end of the PS/2 cable to the keyboard and mouse.
- Connect the DB15 connector on the VGA cable to the VGA port on the front or rear panel of the server and tighten the two screws.
- Connect the other end of the VGA cable to the VGA port on the monitor and tighten the two screws.Figure 5-10 Connecting PS/2 and VGA cables
