Installing a Fan Module
The fan modules support hot swap. If you can open the chassis cover without removing the server (for example, the server is not installed in a cabinet or the server is installed on a static rail kit or ball bearing rail kit), you do not need to perform Step 1 to Step 4 and Step 10 to Step 12.
Procedure
- Power off the server.

- Remove the power cables from the PSUs.

- Remove the server.
For details, see Removing the Server.
- Place the server on the ESD workstation.
- Remove the chassis cover.
For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.
- Take the spare part out of its ESD bag.
- Determine the position of the fan module.Figure 6-68 Positions of fan modules
- Insert the fan module in the slot until it snaps into position.
The same model of fan modules must be used in a server.
