Installing a DIMM
Procedure
- Power off the server.
For details, see Power-Off Procedure.
- Remove the cables from the PSUs.
For details, see Removing PSU Cables.
- Remove the server.
For details, see Removing the Server.
- Place the server on the ESD workstation.
- Remove the chassis cover.
For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.
- Remove the air duct or built-in drive module.
For details, see Removing the Air Duct or Removing the Built-in Drive Module.
- Take a spare DIMM out of its DIMM box.
- Check the installation positions and installation guidelines of the DIMM.

- Raise the two DIMM ejectors on the DIMM slot.Figure 6-109 Raising the DIMM ejectors
- Align the edge connector of the DIMM with the alignment key of the DIMM slot, and insert the DIMM in the slot.
The two fixing clips are closed automatically after the DIMM is firmly seated.
Do not touch the edge connector on a DIMM with bare hands. Before installing a DIMM, ensure that the edge connector is not contaminated.

- Install the air duct or built-in drive module.

- Install the chassis cover.

- Install the server.
For details, see Installing a Server.
- Connect the cables to the PSUs.
For details, see Connecting PSU Cables.
- Power on the server.
For details, see Power-On Procedure.
- Check whether the DIMM is installed properly.
- Log In to the iBMC WebUI.
For details, see Logging In to the iBMC WebUI.
- Choose Information > System Info > Memory, and check the memory information.
- If information about the new memory module is displayed, the replacement is successful.
- If information about the original memory module is displayed, access the BIOS and check memory information.
