Installing a 2 x 3.5" Rear Drive Module

Procedure

  1. Power off the server.

    For details, see Power-Off Procedure.

  2. Remove the power cables from the PSUs.

    For details, see Removing PSU Cables.

  3. Remove the server.

    For details, see Removing the Server.

  4. Place the server on the ESD workstation.
  5. Remove the chassis cover.

    For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.

  6. Take the spare part out of its ESD bag.
  7. Determine the position of the rear drive module.
  8. Install the rear drive module in the chassis, and tighten the screws. See (1), (2), and (3) in Figure 6-135.

  9. Install drives in the rear drive module.

    For details, see Installing a SAS/SATA Drive.

  10. Connect cables to the rear drive module.

    For details, see Internal Cabling.

  11. Install the chassis cover.

    For details, see Installing the Chassis Cover.

  12. Install the server.

    For details, see Installing a Server.

  13. Connect the power cables to the PSUs.

    For details, see Connecting PSU Cables.

  14. Power on the server.

  15. Log in to the iBMC WebUI, and check whether the new component is normal.

Installing a 4 x 2.5" Rear Drive Module

Procedure

  1. Power off the server.

    For details, see Power-Off Procedure.

  2. Remove the power cables from the PSUs.

    For details, see Removing PSU Cables.

  3. Remove the server.

    For details, see Removing the Server.

  4. Place the server on the ESD workstation.
  5. Remove the chassis cover.

  6. Take the spare part out of its ESD bag.
  7. Determine the position of the rear drive module.
  8. Install the rear drive module in the chassis, and tighten the screws. See (1) and (2) in Figure 6-136.
