Installing the VGA Board

Procedure

1. Power off the server.

   For details, see Power-Off Procedure.

2. Remove the power cables from the PSUs.

   For details, see Removing PSU Cables.

3. Remove the server.

   For details, see Removing the Server.

4. Place the server on the ESD workstation.
5. Remove the chassis cover.

   For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.

6. Remove the air duct or built-in drive module.

   For details, see Removing the Air Duct or Removing the Built-in Drive Module.

7. Remove all fan modules.

   For details, see Removing a Fan Module.

8. Remove the fan module bracket.
   1. Pressing the latches on both sides of the fan module bracket, lift the fan module bracket vertically. See (1) and (2) in Figure 6-142.
   2. Remove the other fan module bracket in the same way.

9. Remove the VGA and DVD drive cables from the mainboard and front-drive backplane.

   For details, see Internal Cabling.

10. Remove the bracket.
    1. Pull the bolt that secures the bracket. See (1) in Figure 6-143.
    2. Push out the bracket horizontally. See (2) in Figure 6-143.

11. Take the spare part out of its ESD bag.
12. Determine the position of the VGA board.
13. Install the VGA board.
    1. Place the VGA board onto the bracket. See (1) in Figure 6-144.
    2. Tighten the screws to secure the VGA board. See (2) in Figure 6-144.
    3. Connect the signal cable to the VGA board.

14. Push the bracket into the chassis.

15. Connect all the cables.

16. Install all the fan module brackets.

17. Install all fan modules.

    For details, see Installing a Fan Module.

18. Install the air duct or built-in drive module.

    For details, see Installing the Air Duct or Installing the Built-in Drive Module.

19. Install the chassis cover.

    For details, see Installing the Chassis Cover.

20. Install the server.

    For details, see Installing a Server.

21. Connect the power cables to the PSUs.

    For details, see Connecting PSU Cables.

22. Power on the server.

    For details, see Power-On Procedure.
