Installing a FlexIO
Procedure
- Power off the server.
For details, see Power-Off Procedure.
- Remove the power cables from the PSUs.
For details, see Removing PSU Cables.
- Remove the server.
For details, see Removing the Server.
- Place the server on the ESD workstation.
- Remove the chassis cover.
For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.
- Remove the drive module or riser module above the FlexIO card.
For details, see Removing the Rear Drive Module or Removing a PCIe Riser Module.
- Remove the filler panel.
Perform this operation only when a filler panel is installed.
Figure 6-118 Removing the filler panel - Take the spare part out of its ESD bag.
- Determine the position of the FlexIO card.
- Install the baffle plate of the FlexIO card.
If no baffle plate is delivered with the spare FlexIO card, remove the baffle plate from the FlexIO card for future use.
Do not insert the baffle plate onto the FlexIO card horizontally. Otherwise, the pins of the network ports may be damaged.
- Hold the baffle plate with one hand and the two sides of the FlexIO card with the other hand. Tilting the FlexIO card a little bit to prevent collision of the screw holes of the baffle plate and the network port pins, insert the FlexIO card into the baffle plate in the direction shown by (1) in Figure 6-119. Ensure that the pins at the rear of the FlexIO card are beyond the screw holes.
- Close the baffle plate in the direction shown by (2) in Figure 6-119, and push the FlexIO card horizontally into the baffle plate as far as it will go.
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the screws to secure the baffle plate with the FlexIO card. See (3) in Figure 6-119. The positions of the screws vary depending on the FlexIO card model.
- Install FlexIO cards.
- Aligning the FlexIO card with the guide pin on the mainboard, push the FlexIO card into the chassis until it is firmly seated with the connector on the mainboard. See (1) in Figure 6-120.
- Tighten the screws to secure the FlexIO card. See (2) in Figure 6-120.
- Install the drive module or riser module above the FlexIO card.
For details, see Installing the Rear Drive Module or Installing a PCIe Riser Module.
- Install the chassis cover.
For details, see Installing the Chassis Cover.
- Install the server.
