Removing the AC PSU Cable
Procedure
- Determine the number of PSUs configured for the server.
If the server is fully configured with PSUs, you can remove PSUs and the power cables without powering off the server. However, before removing PSUs, ensure that the remaining PSUs are operating properly and the rated power is greater than or equal to the rated power of the server.
- Power off the server.

- Place the removed component in an ESD bag.
Removing DC PSU Cables
Procedure
- Determine the number of PSUs configured for the server.
If the server is fully configured with PSUs, you can remove PSUs and the power cables without powering off the server. However, before removing PSUs, ensure that the remaining PSUs are operating properly and the rated power is greater than or equal to the rated power of the server.
- Power off the server.
For details, see Power-Off Procedure.
- Remove the cables from the PSUs.
- Hold down the latches above the power cables to be removed using a flat-head screwdriver, and remove the power cables. See (1) and (2) in Figure 8-48.
- Loosen and remove the screw from the ground hole using a Phillips screwdriver, and remove the ground cable from the screw. See (3) in Figure 8-48.
- Place the removed component in an ESD bag.
