Removing a PCIe Card
Procedure
- Power off the server.
For details, see Power-Off Procedure.
- Remove the power cables from the PSUs.
For details, see Removing PSU Cables.
- Remove the server.
For details, see Removing the Server.
- Place the server on the ESD workstation.
- Remove the chassis cover.
For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.
- Determine the slot and position of the PCIe card.
For details, see PCIe Slots.
- Remove the PCIe riser modules.
For details, see Removing a PCIe Riser Module.
- Remove the power cable from the PCIe card.
Certain models of PCIe CPU video cards must be connected with dedicated power cables. Before removing such a PCIe card, remove the power cable from the GPU.
- Remove the PCIe card.
- Remove the PCIe card from the PCIe riser module in I/O module 1 or 2
- Push the bucket outwards to release it. See (1) in Figure 8-157.
- Rotate the PCIe card latch to open it. See (2) in Figure 8-157.
- Remove the PCIe card horizontally. See (3) in Figure 8-157.
- Remove the PCIe card from the PCIe riser module in I/O module 3
- Push the buckle outwards to release it. See (1) in Figure 8-158.
- Remove the PCIe card horizontally. See (2) in Figure 8-158.
- Remove the PCIe card from the PCIe riser module in I/O module 1 or 2
- Place the removed component in an ESD bag.
- Install a filler panel.
Perform this operation only when a PCIe card is not installed immediately.
