General Security Precautions
This section describes the safety precautions you must take before installing, operating, or maintaining Huawei equipment.
Overview
When installing, operating, or maintaining the equipment, follow all safety precautions described in the document to ensure equipment and personal safety.
The "DANGER", "CAUTION", and "WARNING" marks in this document are only supplementary to the safety instructions.
Local Safety Regulations
When operating Huawei equipment, you must follow the local laws and regulations. The safety instructions in this document are only supplements to the local laws and regulations.
Basic Requirements
Only trained personnel should install, operate, or maintain Huawei equipment, and they must understand safety precautions and correct operation methods.
- Only trained and qualified personnel should install, operate, or maintain Huawei equipment.
- Only qualified professional engineers can remove security facilities and troubleshoot equipment.
- Only personnel certified or authorized by Huawei should replace or change Huawei equipment or components (including software).
- Operators must notify relevant parties immediately of anything that may cause safety problems.
Grounding Requirements
The following requirements are only applicable to the equipment that needs to be grounded.
- When installing the equipment, install the ground cable first. When removing the equipment, remove the ground cable last.
- Do not damage grounding conductors.
- Do not perform operations on the equipment before grounding conductors are installed.
- The equipment must be grounded permanently. Before performing operations on the equipment, check the electrical connection of the equipment to make sure that the equipment is grounded reliably.
Human Safety
- Do not operate equipment or cables during thunderstorms.
- During lightning strikes, remove AC power connectors, and do not use fixed terminals or touch terminals or antenna connectors.
The preceding requirements apply to wireless fixed terminals.
- To avoid electric shocks, do not connect safety extra-low voltage (SELV) circuit terminals to telecommunication network voltage (TNV) circuit terminals.
- Do not look into optical ports without eye protection.
- Before the operation, wear the antistatic uniform, wrist straps, and gloves, and remove conductive objects such as ornaments and the watch to avoid electric shock or burn.
- In the case of a fire, evacuate the building or equipment room, sound the fire alarm, and call the emergency services. Never enter a building that is on fire.
Equipment Safety
- Before performing operations, place the equipment firmly on the ground or other stable objects, such as walls or installation racks.
- During the running of the system, do not block the intakes.
- When installing a panel, use a tool to tighten the screws.
- After installing the equipment, clear the empty packaging materials from the telecommunications room.
