What Should I Do If the Error Message "binary operator expected" Is Displayed During .deb Package Installation?
Symptom
The .deb package fails to be installed, and the error message "binary operator expected" is displayed, as shown in Figure 8-11.
Possible Causes
When the .deb package is installed, the .run package in the .deb package is decompressed to the root directory (./) of the current operating environment. If the .run package of the same version already exists in the root directory, the installation script detects two installation packages and the error message "binary operator expected" is displayed.
Solution
Remove the .run package from the root directory (./) and reinstall the software package.
