On an iSCSI Network, the Initiator Cannot Be Connected When SAN Boot Is Configured Using a Storage LUN
Symptom
When a storage device is connected to an HP Gen10 server and the HP 534FLR card is used to configure iSCSI SAN Boot, the initiator on the storage device is always in the offline state.
Root Cause
After receiving the login negotiation packet sent by the host, the iSCSI driver of the storage device returns None,CHAP by default. However, the iSCSI initiator on the HP 534FLR card is incompatible with the returned field. As a result, the host returns a Fin packet to disconnect the connection, and the iSCSI connection fails to be set up.
Solution
When connecting to a special NIC, such as HP 534FLR, you can enable the iSCSI CHAP authentication on the storage device to avoid this problem, as shown in the following figure.
The CHAP name and password in the figure are user-defined and do not need to be configured on the host.
