Battery Module Recharge
- Only trained and qualified personnel are allowed to recharge batteries. Wear insulated gloves and use dedicated insulated tools during the operation.
- Observe onsite during recharge and handle any exceptions in a timely manner.
- If a battery experiences an abnormality such as bulging or smoking during recharge, stop charging immediately and dispose of it.
Two methods are available for recharging a battery module. Select either one based on site requirements.

Recharge in a SmartLi Cabinet
- Verify that the battery modules to be recharged meet the model requirements and are free from deformation, damage, and leakage.
- Check that the battery modules to be charged have been discharged.
- Switch off the battery circuit breaker on the top of the SmartLi cabinet to power off the SmartLi.Figure 4-1 Switching off the battery circuit breaker
- Install the battery modules and cables.
- Press and hold the POWER ON/OFF button on the BCU for more than 2s until the green indicator of the BCU blinks at short intervals (on for 0.25s and off for 0.25s).Figure 4-2 POWER ON/OFF button and green indicator
- Set parameters on the touchscreen Settings Wizard on the SmartLi cabinet.
- After the green indicator on the BCU blinks at super short intervals (on for 0.1s and then off for 0.1s) and the red indicator is steady on, switch on the battery circuit breaker in the upper part of the SmartLi cabinet to power on the SmartLi.
- Observe the charging status of the battery modules in real time until the charging is complete (the battery module SOC displayed on the touchscreen reaches 50%).
- Power off the SmartLi when the charging termination condition is met.
- Switch off the battery circuit breaker in the upper part of the SmartLi.
- Hold down the POWER ON/OFF button on the BCU for more than 5s to power off the SmartLi.
- Turn off the ready switch on the BCU.
- Pull out the BCU for about 10 cm and measure the battery module voltage to check whether the recharge meets requirements.Table 4-3 Recharge qualification standard and measurement method

Method for Measuring Battery Voltage
ESM-6440P1
≥ 65 V
- Method 1: Use a voltmeter to measure the voltage between the positive and negative terminals of the battery.
- Method 2: View the battery voltage on the touchscreen of the SmartLi.
- Remove the battery module cables, place the battery module in the original packing case, and update the latest charge time and next charge time on the recharge label of the original packing case. The battery module should be used as soon as possible.
- Reinstall the BCU.Figure 4-3 Installing the BCU
Recharge with a Portable Battery Charger/Discharger
- Verify that the battery modules to be recharged meet the model requirements and are free from deformation, damage, and leakage.
- Check that the power supply to the portable battery charger/discharger is disconnected.
- Install cables between the portable charger/discharger and the battery module.Figure 4-4 Cable connection diagram

(3) Communications cable
(4) Power cable (negative)
(5) Power cable (positive)
- Power on the portable battery charger/discharger to discharge the batteries.
- Select a charging mode and start charging.
- Observe the cell voltage and temperature in real time on the portable battery charger/discharger to prevent overvoltage, overtemperature, undervoltage, and undertemperature, ensuring the charging safety of the battery module.
During recharge, the portable battery charger/discharger detects the cell voltage of the battery module in real time and terminates charging based on the parameters corresponding to the charging mode. This protects the cell from overcharge and overdischarge.
- After the charging ends, disconnect the power supply from the portable battery charger/discharger, and check whether the recharge meets requirements according to Table 4-4.Table 4-4 Recharge qualification standard and measurement method

- Method 1: Use a voltmeter to measure the voltage between the positive and negative terminals of the battery.
- Method 2: Check the battery terminal voltage in the test information displayed on the portable battery charger/discharger.
- Remove the battery module cables, place the battery module in the original packing case, and update the latest charge time and next charge time on the recharge label of the original packing case. The battery module should be used as soon as possible.
