Overview
LVM can combine several disks (physical volumes) into a volume group and divide the volume group into logical volumes (LVM partitions).
LVM provides the following functions:
- Creating logical volumes across multiple disks
- Creating logical volumes on one disk
- Expanding and compressing logical volumes on demand
