Configuring RAID (2288H V5 Server)
RAID needs to be configured before an operating system is installed in order to improve the efficiency and security of using server hard disks.
RAID is a technology used to combine multiple independent physical hard disks in various modes to form logical hard disk groups. A logical hard disk group provides storage capacity greater than that of a single hard disk and allows implementation of data redundancy protection.
The following operations need to be performed on both the active and standby eSight servers.
2288H V5 Servers with Standard Configurations
Before installing the operating system, configure the RAID for the server to improve storage performance and data security of the disks. This section describes how to configure the RAID on the iBMC web page for Huawei 2288H V5 servers whose BOM number is 02312SEH (four disks).
Procedure
- Log in to the iBMC web management page.
- Open a browser, enter https://IP address of the iBMC management network port in the address box, and press Enter. The default IP address of the iBMC management port is 192.168.2.100.
- (Optional) If the security alarm window is displayed, click Continue to this website.
- Enter the user name and password, and click Log In.
The default user name is Administrator. For the initial password, see the device documentation. (Support: https://support.huawei.com/hedex/hdx.do?docid=DOC1000401174&lang=en; Support-E: https://support.huawei.com/hedex/hdx.do?docid=EDOC1000163559&lang=en).
- On the iBMC web management page, choose Information from the main menu.
- Power on the server.
- Choose Overview from the navigation pane on the left.
- If Power Status is displayed as
, go to 4. Otherwise, click Power On.
The system displays operation successful. The power status changes to
.
- Choose System Info from the navigation pane on the left and choose Storage on the right of the page.
- Click the Configure tab and click the arrow icon next to Logical Drive to expand the options.
- If the device has just been powered on, the configuration page may not be displayed. Wait and then open the configuration page again.
- Disable the JBOD mode. If this mode is enabled, disable the mode and restart the server.
Select Delete in Logical Drive. If the logical disk has been configured, select the Operation column in each row and click Save.
Deleting a logical disk takes a long time. Ensure that the logical disk has been deleted and perform subsequent operations after the system is restarted.
- Configure RAID 5 using Disk0 to Disk2.
- Under Logical Drive, select Create.
- Set Write Policy to Write Back with BBU.
- Set Disk Cache Policy to Disable.
- Set Init State to Quick Init.
- Set Level to 5.
- Select three disks for Drive.
Click Save.
- In the dialog box that is displayed, click Yes.
If a message indicating that the operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is complete.
- Under Logical Drive, select Create.
- Configure the physical disk Disk3 as the hot spare disk.
In the Confirm dialog box that is displayed, click Yes.
If a message indicating that the operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is complete.
- Click Views to check whether the RAID level, write policy, and capacity are the same as planned. If they are consistent, the configuration is correct.
2288H V5 Servers with High Configurations
Before installing the operating system, configure the RAID for the server to improve storage performance and data security of the disks. This section describes how to configure the RAID on the iBMC web page for Huawei 2288H V5 servers whose BOM number is 02312SEJ (six disks).
