Configuring RAID (2288X V5 Server)
If the server supports the RAID function, configure the RAID for the server to improve system reliability. This section describes how to configure RAID for Huawei 2288X V5 servers in standard and high configurations. If you use servers of other models, see the product documentation of the server or consult the supplier about RAID configuration.
2288X V5 Servers with Standard Configurations
Before installing the operating system, configure the RAID for the server to improve storage performance and data security of the disks. This section describes how to configure the RAID on the iBMC web page for Huawei 2288X V5 servers with standard configurations (two disks).
Procedure
- Log in to the iBMC web management page.
- In the address box of a browser, enter the iBMC address in the format of https://IP address of the iBMC management network port on the server. The default address is https://192.168.2.100.
- Press Enter.
The iBMC login page is displayed in the browser, as shown in Figure 2-2.
- If the browser displays "There is a problem with this website's security certificate", click Continue to this website (not recommended).
- If the Security Alert dialog box is displayed, click OK.
- On the iBMC login page, enter the user name and password.
The default user name is Administrator. For the preset password, see the device documentation. (Support: https://support.huawei.com/carrier/docview!docview?nid=DOC1100620242; Support-E: https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/doc/EDOC1100124493).
If you enter incorrect passwords for five consecutive times, the system will lock your account. Wait for five minutes and log in again.
- Select This iBMC from the Domain drop-down list.
- Click Log In. The Home page is displayed. Move the cursor to
in the upper right corner to display the login user name.
- Power on the server.
- In the Shortcuts area on the homepage, click Power Control.
- If the value of System Power is On, go to the next step. Otherwise, click Power On. Wait until the value of System Power changes to On.
- In the navigation tree, choose System > Storage Management. The controller information is displayed.
- Click
in the upper right corner and set JBOD to Disabled.
- If the device has just been powered on, the configuration page may not be displayed. Wait and then open the configuration page again.
- Disable the JBOD mode. If this mode is enabled, disable the mode and restart the server.
- Delete the existing Logical Drive 0. If a logical disk has been configured, click
next to the logical disk to delete it. In the displayed dialog box, click Yes.
Deleting a logical disk takes a long time. Ensure that the logical disk has been deleted and perform subsequent operations after the system is restarted.
- Configure RAID 1 using Disk0 and Disk1.
- Click Add to create a logical disk.
- Set Drive Cache Policy to Disabled.
- Set Initialization State to Quick Init.
- Set RAID Level to 1.
- Select both disks for Physical Drive.
- Set Write Policy to Write Back with BBU.
- Click Save. In the dialog box that is displayed, click Yes.
If a message indicating that the operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is complete.
- Click Add to create a logical disk.
- Click Storage Management to refresh the page. Check whether the RAID level, write policy, and capacity are the same as planned. If they are consistent, the configuration is correct.
2288X V5 Servers with High Configurations
Before installing the operating system, configure the RAID for the server to improve storage performance and data security of the disks. This section describes how to configure the RAID on the iBMC web page for Huawei 2288X V5 servers (six disks).
Procedure
- Log in to the iBMC web management page.
- In the address box of a browser, enter the iBMC address in the format of https://IP address of the iBMC management network port on the server. The default address is https://192.168.2.100.
- Press Enter.
The iBMC login page is displayed in the browser, as shown in Figure 2-3.
- If the browser displays "There is a problem with this website's security certificate", click Continue to this website (not recommended).
- If the Security Alert dialog box is displayed, click OK.
- On the iBMC login page, enter the user name and password.

- Select This iBMC from the Domain drop-down list.
- Click Log In. The Home page is displayed. Move the cursor to
in the upper right corner to display the login user name.
- Power on the server.
- In the Shortcuts area on the homepage, click Power Control.
- If the value of System Power is On, go to the next step. Otherwise, click Power On. Wait until the value of System Power changes to On.
- In the navigation tree, choose System > Storage Management. The controller information is displayed.
- Click
in the upper right corner and set JBOD to Disabled.
- If the device has just been powered on, the configuration page may not be displayed. Wait and then open the configuration page again.
- Disable the JBOD mode. If this mode is enabled, disable the mode and restart the server.
- Delete the existing Logical Drive 0. If a logical disk has been configured, click
next to the logical disk to delete it. In the displayed dialog box, click Yes.
Deleting a logical disk takes a long time. Ensure that the logical disk has been deleted and perform subsequent operations after the system is restarted.
- Configure RAID 5 using Disk0 to Disk4.
- Click Add to create a logical disk.
- Set Drive Cache Policy to Disabled.
- Set Initialization State to Quick Init.
- Set RAID Level to 5.
- Select five disks for Physical Drive.
- Set Write Policy to Write Back with BBU.
- Click Save. In the dialog box that is displayed, click Yes.
If a message indicating that the operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is complete.
- Click Add to create a logical disk.
- Configure the physical disk Disk5 as the hot spare disk.
- Click Disk5.
- Click Settings at the upper right corner.
In the Confirm dialog box that is displayed, click Yes. If a message indicating that the operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is complete.
- Click Storage Management to refresh the page. Check whether the RAID level, write policy, and capacity are the same as planned. If they are consistent, the configuration is correct.
Manually Configuring the RAID (SAS3152)
Before installing the operating system, configure the RAID for the server to improve storage performance and data security of the disks. 2288X V5 servers with the SAS3152 RAID controller card do not support RAID configuration on the iBMC WebUI. This section uses Huawei 2288X V5 servers (six disks) as an example to describe how to configure RAID on the BIOS UI.
Impact on the System
You need to restart the server to access the configuration management page, which will interrupt services on the server.
Prerequisites
Perform the following steps to check whether the RAID controller card model is SAS3152:
- Log in to the iBMC web management page.
- In the address box of a browser, enter the iBMC address in the format of https://IP address of the iBMC management network port on the server. The default address is https://192.168.2.100.
- Press Enter. The iBMC login page is displayed.
- If the browser displays There is a problem with this website's security certificate., click Continue to this website (not recommended).
- If the Security Alert dialog box indicating a certificate error is displayed, click Yes.
- On the iBMC login page, enter the user name and password, and select Local iBMC from the Domain drop-down list. Click Log In. The Home page is displayed.

- If you enter incorrect passwords for five consecutive times, the system will lock your account. Wait for five minutes and log in again.
- On the iBMC Home page, choose System from the menu bar. In the navigation pane, choose Storage Management to view the model of the current RAID controller card.
Procedure
If the RAID controller card model is SAS3152, perform the following steps to configure RAID:
- In the virtual console on the right of the iBMC Home page, click
and select HTML5 Integrated Remote Console (Shared) to access the iBMC console.
- On the remote console, click
and select BIOS Setup.
- Click
, select Forced Restart, and click OK to restart the server.
- During the restart, you do not need to perform any operation. Wait for a while until the page for entering the password is displayed.
- Enter the password, press Enter, and click OK. The main window is displayed, as shown in the following figure.

- On the remote console, click
- Press ← or → to select the Device Manager tab, and press Enter.
- Select Adaptec SmartRAID 3152-8i and press Enter. The Adaptec SmartRAID 3152-8i configuration UI is displayed.
- Select Configure Controller Settings and press Enter. The controller configuration UI is displayed.
- Select Modify Controller Settings and press Enter. The UI for modifying controller configurations is displayed.
- Select Configured Physical Drive Write Cache State and press Enter. The UI for configuring the physical disk cache policy is displayed.
- Press ↑ or ↓ to select Disabled and press Enter.
- Press ↑ or ↓ to select [Submit Changes] and press Enter.
- The physical disk cache policy is disabled. Press Esc three times to return to the Adaptec SmartRAID 3152-8i main menu.
- Select the Array Configuration tab and press Enter.
- Select the Create Array tab and press Enter.
On the configuration page, press Enter to set the disk attribute to Enabled.
- Select Proceed to next Form and press Enter.
- Press Enter to select RAID5. Select Proceed to next Form and press Enter. Click the [Submit Changes] tab and press Enter.
- Press Enter to return to the main menu. After RAID 5 is created, press ESC twice to return to the main window, and select the Continue tab.
RAID 5 is created for 2288X V5 servers with high configurations, and RAID 1 is created for 2288X V5 servers with standard configurations.
- (Optional) If an array exists or a message is displayed indicating that the disk is full after an array is created, delete all array configurations.
- On the Configure Controller Settings page, select the Clear Configuration tab and press Enter. The page for clearing configurations is displayed.
- Select Delete All Array Configurations to delete all array configurations. Press Enter to go to the confirmation page.
- Click the [Submit Changes] tab and press Enter.
- Select Back to Main Menu and press Enter to return to the Adaptec SmartRAID 3152-8i RAID controller card configuration page.
- On the Configure Controller Settings page, select the Clear Configuration tab and press Enter. The page for clearing configurations is displayed.
