Installing eSight

Procedure

1. Use VNC to log in to the active eSight server as the root user. For details, see How to Use the VNC to Remotely Log In to SUSE Linux.
2. Run the following commands to start the eSight installation.

   # cd /opt/install

   # chmod u+x install.sh

   # ./install.sh

   If the tool window cannot be displayed in the Linux operating system, see What Can I Do If the Tool Window Is Not Displayed in the SUSE Linux Operating System.

   The following information is displayed:

   begin to install eSight

3. Read the license agreement, select Read and Accept License Agreement, and click Install on the GUI.

4. In the Set Installation Parameters dialog box, set installation parameters and click Next.
   • If the specified installation directory does not exist, a message is displayed, asking whether to create the directory. If you click Yes, the directory is automatically created.
   • Ensure that the eSight installation directory is empty. If no, eSight installation fails.

   IP Address Type	IP address type of the eSight server.	IPv4
   Server IP Address	Use the default value.	-
   Server IPv6 Address	Use the default value.	-
   Server Port	Port of the server. The default value is 8080. If port 8080 is in use, change it to another port number.	8080
   Installation Directory	Installation directory of the eSight software. The default value is /opt/eSight. You cannot manually change the value.	/opt/eSight

5. On the Database Parameters page, set the database parameters and click Next.

   Parameter	Description	Example
   Administrator Password	Password of the database administrator. A default value is provided. After the installation is complete, you can use the maintenance tool to change the password.	For the preset password, see the eSight User List released with the version (Support: https://support.huawei.com/carrier/docview!docview?nid=DOC1100890341; Support-E: https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/doc/EDOC1100227876).
   NMS User Password	Password of the NMS user of the database. A default value is provided. After the installation is complete, you can use the maintenance tool to change the password.
   Confirm NMS User Password	Confirm password of the database NMS user. The value must be the same as the value of NMS User Password.

   During this process, the Gauss database is deployed and parameters are verified. This process takes 10 to 20 minutes.

6. In the Select Software Components To Be Installed dialog box, select the components to be installed and click Next.
   • The component function is controlled by the License. If no license is purchased, the corresponding function cannot be used after installation.
   • eSight components support incremental installation. If a component is not selected when eSight is installed, you can install the component when eSight is installed the second time. However, you need to ensure that the installation package version is the same as that of the running eSight.

7. In the Summary window, verify the entered installation information and click Next.

   If the installation information is incorrect, click Previous to reset the installation information.

8. After eSight is installed, click Finish in the dialog box that is displayed.

   The installation takes about 15 minutes.
