Distinguishing CRUs and FRUs
This chapter describes how to distinguish customer replaceable units (CRUs) and field replaceable units (FRUs).
CRUs
CRUs are components that customers can replace at the deployment site by referring to the operation guides of CRUs.
Customers are allowed to replace CRUs, but are prohibited from replacing other components, due to the risk of personal injury and device damage.
FRUs
FRUs are components that engineers can replace at the deployment site by referring to the operation guides of FRUs.
Operators: Huawei technical support engineers and maintenance engineers as well as technical support engineers and maintenance engineers certified by Huawei
To effectively check software and hardware status and ensure the successful replacement of an FRU, use the FRU replacement tool of OceanStor SmartKit to guide you through the replacement.
CRU and FRU List
All components of OceanStor 18500 V5, 18800 V5, 18500F V5, and 18800F V5 storage systems are FRUs.
For models other than OceanStor 18000 V5 Kunpeng/18000F V5 Kunpeng, CRU/FRU attributes vary by component. Table 5-1 lists CRUs and FRUs.
