Replacing a BBU (for OceanStor 2600 V5, 5300 V5, or 5300F V5)
This section describes how to replace a BBU.
Prerequisites
- The spare part is on hand.
- Configuration data has been backed up.
- The BBU that you want to replace has been located.
You can locate a component in either of the following ways:
- Locating a component based on alarms in DeviceManager: On the Alarms and Events page of DeviceManager, view the help information and determine the ID of the component to be replaced. Then locate the component at your site based on its ID.
- Locating a component based on the status of its Running/Alarm indicator: For details about the indicators on different components, see "Indicator Introduction" of each component in the Product Description specific to your product model and version.
- When a BBU is being replaced, the other BBU is working properly.
Precautions
- Remove and insert a BBU with even force. Excessive force may damage the appearance of the BBU or cause faults.
- Remove only one BBU at a time.
- A BBU must be replaced within three minutes. Otherwise, the system heat dissipation is compromised.
Tools and Materials
- ESD wrist strap
- ESD bag
- Labels
Procedure
- Perform a pre-replacement check.Check whether there is a redundant BBU and whether the Running/Alarm indicator of the BBU is steady green, as shown in Figure 7-96. For details about the indicators on different components, see "Indicator Introduction" in the Product Description of the corresponding model.
You can perform replacement only when a redundant BBU exists and the redundant BBU is working properly.
- Wear an ESD wrist strap.
- Press the latch on the BBU and pull the handle of the BBU outwards to pull out the BBU, as shown in Figure 7-97.
- Put the removed BBU into an ESD bag.
- Take the spare part out of its ESD bag.
- Insert the BBU into the empty slot, as shown in Figure 7-98.
- Wait about two minutes and check the status of the Running/Alarm indicator on the BBU to determine whether the BBU has been successfully installed. Figure 7-99 shows the location of the Running/Alarm indicator.
- If the indicator is steady green or blinking green, the BBU has been successfully installed.
- If the indicator is steady yellow or off, the newly installed BBU is faulty, the BBU slot is faulty, or the BBU is incorrectly installed.
- Confirm the replacement.
After the preceding procedure is complete, check services on the host for storage-related errors. If any storage-related error is reported, contact Huawei technical support.
Follow-up Procedure
After the BBU is replaced, label it to facilitate subsequent operations.
