Replacing a Quorum Server
This section describes how to replace a quorum server.
The procedures for replacing 1288H V5 and 2280 are the same. This section uses 2280 as an example.
Impact on the System
The services and programs running on the quorum server will be interrupted when it is removed. The arbitration mode of the active-active service automatically switches to the static priority arbitration mode.
Prerequisites
- A spare part is on hand.
- You have determined the position of the quorum server for replacement.
- All running services and programs on the quorum server are stopped, and the quorum server is powered off.
- Data is backed up for the quorum server before it is removed.
- The cable connection positions on the quorum server to be replaced are clearly marked.
Precautions
- Remove or insert a quorum server with even force. Excessive force may damage the appearance or connectors of the quorum server.
- The quorum server is heavy so that at least two persons are required to move it.
Tools and Materials
- ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves
- Screwdriver
Procedure
- Power off the quorum server.
- Remove the quorum server.
- Disconnect all power cables and signal cables from the quorum server.
- Loosen the captive screws on the quorum server panel using a screwdriver. See step (1) in Figure 8-145.
- Pull out the quorum server along the guide rails away from the cabinet. See step (2) in Figure 8-145.
- Place the removed quorum server on the ESD platform for maintenance.
- Reinstall the quorum server.
- At least two persons lift the quorum server on two sides and move it to the cabinet.
- Place the quorum server on the guide rails and push it into the cabinet, as shown in Figure 8-146.
- When the two mounting ears on the quorum server contact the mounting bars on the cabinet, tighten the captive screws on the mounting ears to secure the quorum server.
- Connect the cables and power on the quorum server.
- After the quorum server is powered on, reinstall and configure the quorum server software.
For details, see the HyperMetro Feature Guide for Block or HyperMetro Feature Guide for File specific to your product model.
Follow-up Procedure
Log in to the quorum server, run the qsadmin command to go to the configuration page of the quorum server software, and run the show server_ip command to check whether the connection between the quorum server and storage devices is in Established state.

- If yes, the quorum server is added successfully.
- If no, the quorum server fails to be added. Check whether the IP address of the quorum server is correct.
