Requirement Analysis
This section analyzes the requirements of a company that implements DR and backup using 3DC and provides conclusions.
Customer Requirements
A company has user data management services deployed on an application server in city A. Currently, the company deploys HyperMetro using OceanStor Dorado V6 storage systems to ensure service continuity. To ensure high data security, the company purchases another OceanStor Dorado V6 storage system and deploys it in city B, 2000 km far away from city A. The company hopes to use 3DC to protect service data against natural disasters without affecting legacy services. In addition, the customer hopes that remote backup will not be affected in the event that data cannot be restored at site A or B in city A due to a disaster.
Figure 5-1 shows the existing network.
Requirement Analysis and Conclusions
Requirements:
- Requirement 1: Remote data backup is required.
- Requirement 2: Remote backup is not affected by the fault of a single HyperMetro site.
Conclusion: DR Star (HyperMetro+HyperReplication) can meet the customer requirements. If site A or site B is faulty, the B-C or A-C remote replication pair switches from the standby state to the active state, without affecting remote backup.
