Configuring Interface Split and Merge
Context
100GE optical interfaces and some 40GE optical interfaces can be used as independent interfaces or each can be split into multiple independent interfaces. A 40GE interface can be split into four 10GE interfaces. A 100GE interface can be split into ten 10GE interfaces, four 10GE interfaces, four 25GE interfaces or two 40GE interfaces. With the interface split function, interfaces on a card can connect to various types of interfaces on the remote device.
After an interface is split, the original interface does not work. The new 10GE or 40GE optical interfaces support the same configurations and features as common optical interfaces, except that they are numbered in a different way. For details about the numbering rule, see Interface Numbering Rules.
- A 40GE interface on the ES1D2L08QX2E, ES1D2H02QX2E, ES1D2H02QX2S, and ES1D2L02QFC0 cards can be split into four 10GE interfaces.
- A 100GE interface on the ES1D2C04HX2E, ES1D2H02QX2E, ES1D2H02QX2S, and ES1D2C04HX2S cards can be split into four 10GE interfaces only when it works at the rate of 40 Gbit/s.
- A 100GE interface on the EE series cards can be split into ten 10GE interfaces or two 40GE interfaces.
- LSS7C06HX6S0, and LSS7C06HX6E0 cards can be split into four 10GE interfaces or four 25GE interfaces. When a 100GE interface works at the rate of 100 Gbit/s, it can only be split to four 25GE interfaces. When it works at the rate of 40 Gbit/s, it can only be split to four 10GE interfaces.
- For the interfaces converted from a 100GE interface, you can run the port split command on any of the converted interface to change the interface split mode.
