Storm Control
Storm Suppression
Context
Excessive broadcast, unknown multicast, and unknown unicast packets on inbound and outbound interfaces will cause broadcast storm. To prevent broadcast storm, configure suppression for the corresponding types of packet on the interfaces.
Procedure
- Choose Storm Suppression tab, as shown in Figure 5-216. and click the
- Select a port to be configured. Perform the following operations as required in the port area:
- Click a port icon. To deselect the port, click the port icon again.
- Drag the cursor to select consecutive ports in a batch.
- Click multiple port icons to select these ports, and click a port icon again to deselect the port.
- Select a slot where an LPU is located. All ports on the LPU are selected.
- To set the rate limit for broadcast packets on the interface, set the parameters in Broadcast suppression.
- To set the rate limit for unknown unicast packets on the interface, set the parameters in Unknown unicast suppression.
- To set the rate limit for unknown multicast packets on the interface, set the parameters in Unknown multicast suppression.
- Click Apply to complete the configuration.
Storm Control
Context
To limit the rate of broadcast, unknown multicast, or unknown unicast packets on inbound interfaces and prevent heavy traffic on a device, configure storm control for the corresponding types of packet on the inbound interface.
Procedure
- Choose Storm Control tab, as shown in Figure 5-217. and click the
- Select a port to be configured.
- Turn on Storm Control and enable log or alarm for the storm control.
By default, log and alarm for the storm control are disabled.
- Configure storm control for broadcast packets received on the selected interface in Broadcast control threshold.
- Upper threshold: specifies the upper limit in pps, byte, or percentage mode.
- Lower threshold: specifies the lower limit in pps, byte, or percentage mode.
- Configure storm control for unknown multicast packets received on the selected interface in Multicast control threshold.
- Upper threshold: specifies the upper limit in pps, byte, or percentage mode.
- Lower threshold: specifies the lower limit in pps, byte, or percentage mode.
- Configure storm control for unknown unicast packets received on the selected interface in Unicast control threshold.
- Upper threshold: specifies the upper limit in pps, byte, or percentage mode.
- Lower threshold: specifies the lower limit in pps, byte, or percentage mode.
- Set the storm control action in Storm control action.
- None: indicates that no storm control action is configured.
- Disable: indicates to shut down the interface.
- Block: indicates to discard packets.
- Click Apply to complete the configuration.
