Context
A cluster switch system (CSS) connects two physical switches using dedicated CSS cables into a single logical switch. A CSS is also called a cluster. A single switch cannot meet requirements of increasing data access in data centers and high network reliability, while CSS can provide high forwarding performance and high network reliability. After two switches set up a CSS, one switch functions as the master switch, and the other functions as the backup switch.
