MLD Snooping
MLD Snooping Configuration
Context
With MLD snooping configured, switches can analyze MLD messages exchanged between user hosts and the router to create and maintain a Layer 2 multicast forwarding table. In this way, multicast data packets are forwarded based on the Layer 2 multicast forwarding table instead of being broadcast.
- If Layer 2 multicast is not enabled on a switch, the switch broadcasts unknown multicast flows.
- If Layer 2 multicast is enabled on a switch, the switch broadcasts unknown multicast flows in a VLAN, regardless of which Layer 2 multicast forwarding mode is used.
Procedure
- Choose and click the MLD Snooping Configuration tab.
- Click a configuration record of a VLAN enter the editing state, as shown in Figure 5-132.
- Set MLD snooping parameters, such as MLD Snooping and MLD Version.

Procedure
- Create a static user.
- Choose and click the Group Member Ports tab, as shown in Figure 5-133.
- Click Create Static User to display the Create Static User page, as shown in Figure 5-134.

Selected outbound interfaces
Lists the interfaces that you have selected on the panel.
Multicast group address
Enter the IP address of the multicast group to which you want to bind the interfaces.
Multicast source address
Enter a multicast source address.
VLAN ID
Enter the VLAN ID of the interfaces. The value is an integer ranging from 1 to 4094.
- Delete a static user.
- Click Delete Static User to display the Delete Static User page, as shown in Figure 5-135.

Lists the interfaces that you have selected on the panel.
VLAN ID
Select a VLAN ID to remove the interfaces from the group in the specified VLAN.
Multicast group address
Enter the IP address of the multicast group from which you want to remove the interfaces.
Multicast source address
Enter a multicast source address.
- Click Delete Static User to display the Delete Static User page, as shown in Figure 5-135.
- Delete dynamic multicast entries.
- Choose and click the Group Member Ports tab, as shown in Figure 5-133.
- Select the dynamic multicast entries you want to delete and click Delete Dynamic Multicast Entry. The system asks you whether to delete the entries.
- Click OK.
