- If the TLV type is normal, perform the following:
Run the display memory-usage command in the user view to check whether the system memory usage is too high. If so, analyze the cause.
If the memory usage is normal, contact technical support personnel.
- If abnormality occurs in the TLV, check whether the switch sending the LSP is faulty.

ISIS/5/ISIS_LSP_SEQ_THRESHOLD_EXCEED
Message
ISIS/5/ISIS_LSP_SEQ_THRESHOLD_EXCEED: The LSP sequence number has exceeded the upper threshold value. (isisSysInstance=[USHORT], isisSysLevelIndex=[USHORT], isisPduLspId=[STRING], srcMac=[STRING], recvFromIf=[STRING], thresholdValue=[STRING], LocalSeqNum=[STRING], RemoteSeqNum=[STRING])
Parameters
Parameter Name | Parameter Meaning |
---|---|
isisSysInstance |
ID of an IS-IS process |
isisSysLevelIndex |
IS-IS level |
isisPduLspId |
LSP ID |
srcMac |
Source MAC address of the received LSP |
recvFromIf |
Name of the interface that received the LSP |
thresholdValue |
Upper alarm threshold, which is 0xF0000000. |
LocalSeqNum |
Local sequence number |
RemoteSeqNum |
Remote sequence number |
Possible Causes
Cause 1: The sequence numbers increase to the upper alarm threshold as expected.
Cause 2: An attacker simulated a locally generated LSP, set its sequence number to a value that is greater than the upper alarm threshold, and sent the LSP to the local device.
Cause 3: Another device on the network had the same IS-IS System ID as the local one.
Procedure
- Run the display
isis lsdb command to check the sequence numbers of
locally generated LSPs.
- If the sequence numbers increase as expected, no action is required.
- If the sequence numbers increase too fast, go to Step 2.
- Run the timer
lsp-refresh command in the IS-IS view to increase
the LSP update interval and then run the display isis lsdb command to check the sequence numbers of locally generated LSPs.
- If the sequence numbers increase as expected, go to Step 5.
- If the sequence numbers increase too fast, go to Step 3.
- Check whether there is another device on the network with
the local IS-IS System ID.
- If such a device exists, change its system ID.
- If no such a device exists, go to Step 4.
- Collect alarm information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.
- End.
ISIS/6/ISIS_LSP_SEQ_SKIP
Message
ISIS/6/ISIS_LSP_SEQ_SKIP:ISIS modifid self-originated LSP sequence number with received [STRING]. (ProcessId=[USHORT], Level=[USHORT], LspId=[STRING], LocalSeqnum=[ULONG], ReceivedSeqNum=[ULONG], NewSeqNum=[ULONG])
Description
IS-IS modified the sequence number of a self-originated LSP after it received a [UDP]. (ProcessId=[USHORT],Level=[USHORT],LspId=[STRING],LocalSeqnum=[ULONG],ReceivedSeqNum=[ULONG],NewSeqNum=[ULONG])
Parameters
Parameter Name | Parameter Meaning |
---|---|
PDU |
Received packet |
ProcessId |
ID of an IS-IS process |
Level |
Level of an LSP |
LspId |
ID of the LSP |
LocalSeqnum |
Sequence number of the local LSP |
ReceivedSeqNum |
Sequence number of the received packet |
NewSeqNum |
New sequence number of the LSP |
Possible Causes
1. After the IS-IS process restarted, the sequence number increased from one. IS-IS received an LSP whose ID was the same as that of a local LSP, but the sequence number of the received LSP was larger than that of the local one.
2. A system ID conflict existed on the network. As a result, LSPs were updated frequently.
Procedure
- Run the display history-command command to check
whether the IS-IS process was restarted on the local switch using the reset isis all command.
If the IS-IS process was restarted, this log message is informational only, and no action is required.
If the IS-IS process was not restarted, go to Step 2.
- Run the display isis lsdb command repeatedly to
check whether the sequence numbers of LSPs on the local switch increase abnormally fast. Specifically, check whether the LSP update
interval is less than that configured using the timer lsp-refresh command.
If the LSP update interval is less than the configured one, go to Step 3.
If the LSP update interval is not less than the configured one, go to Step 5.
- Run the display current-configuration command to check whether another switch has the same system ID or virtual system ID as that of the local switch.
If a system ID or virtual system ID conflict exists, go to Step 4.
If no system ID or virtual system ID conflict exists, go to Step 5.
- Enter the IS-IS view of the local switch or the switch whose system ID or virtual system ID is the same as that of the
local switch, run the undo network-entity command to delete the conflicting
system ID or run the undo virtual-system command to delete the
conflicting virtual system ID, and then run the network-entity command to configure a different system ID or run the virtual-system command to configure a different virtual system ID. Then,

Possible Causes
Cause 1: The local device did not update local LSPs in time. As a result, a locally generated LSP aged and was flooded back.
Cause 2: The LSP was modified because of a failure, such as a transmission failure. As a result, the LSP became a purged LSP.
Cause 3: The local device restarted, or the IS-IS process was reset. As a result, the local device received the purged LSP that was locally generated.
Procedure
- Check whether the device restarted.
- If the device restarted, this log message is informational only and no action is required.
- If the device did not restart, go to Step 2.
- Check whether SrcSystem is available in the log.
- If SrcSystem is available, check the system ID of the device that sends the purged LSP and go to Step 4.
- If SrcSystem is unavailable, go to Step 3.
- Check NbrSystem in the log, download the log from
the neighbor, and check whether the purged LSP was sent by the neighbor.
- If the purged LPS was sent by the neighbor, go to Step 4.
- If the purged LPS was not sent by the neighbor, go to Step 5.
- Check whether the purged LSP has been deleted from the
device that sent it.
- If the purged LSP has been deleted from the device that sent it, this log message is informational only and no action is required.
- If the purged LSP has not been deleted from the device that sent it, go to Step 5.
- Locate the device that sends the purged LSP and go to Step 4.
- Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.
- End.

Possible Causes
Cause 1: The sequence numbers increase to the maximum value as expected.
Cause 2: An attacker simulated a locally generated LSP, set its sequence number to the maximum value, and sent the LSP to the local device.
- End.
