VBST/4/BPDUPROTECT
Message
VBST/4/BPDUPROTECT: This edged-port [port-name] that enabled BPDU-Protection will be shutdown, because it received BPDU packet.
Procedure
- Check whether the interface is directly connected to a
user terminal and can be specified as an edge port.
- If the interface is directly connected to a user terminal and therefore can be specified as an edge port, go to Step 2.
- If the interface is indirectly connected to a user terminal and therefore cannot be specified as an edge port, go to Step 3.
- Locate the source of the BPDUs on the interface and check
whether the malicious attack exists.
- If the malicious attack exists, go to Step 4.
- If the malicious attack does not exist, go to Step 3.
- Run the undo stp edged-port and undo shutdown commands in the interface view to delete the configuration of the edge port and restart the interface. Then, check whether the log persists. If the log persists, go to Step 4.
- Collect trap, log, and configuration information, and contact technical support personnel.
VBST/4/EDGEPORT
Message
VBST/4/EDGEPORT: Edged-port [port-name] received BPDU packet, then the active state of the edged-port will be disabled.
- Run the undo stp edged-port command and the undo shutdown command in the interface view to delete the configuration of the edge port and restart the interface. Then, check whether the log persists. If the log persists, go to Step 4.
- Collect trap, log, and configuration information, and contact technical support personnel.
VBST/4/LOOPDETECT
Message
VBST/4/LOOPDETECT: In VBST VLAN [ULONG], the port [STRING] was blocked because it received the VBST packets sent by itself.
Procedure
- Check whether a local loopback is configured on the interface
where the log is generated.
- If a local loopback is configured on the interface where the log is generated, go to Step 3.
- If no local loopback is configured on the interface where the log is generated, go to Step 2.
- Check whether a loop is formed by a hub and devices, one
of which is connected to the interface.
- If a loop is formed by a hub and devices, one of which is connected to the interface, go to Step 4.
- If no loop is formed by a hub and devices, one of which is connected to the interface, go to Step 5.
- Run the undo loopback command to delete the local loopback configuration, and check whether the log persists. If the log persists, go to Step 5.
- Remove the self-loop network cable from the hub and check whether the log persists. If the log persists, go to Step 5.
- Collect trap, log, and configuration information, and contact technical support personnel.
VBST/4/LOOPPROTECT
Message
VBST/4/LOOPPROTECT: VBST VLAN [vlan-id]'s LOOP-Protection port [port-name] did not receive message in prescriptive time.
Description
The root port or alternate port in the VLAN enabled VBST and loop protection did not receive BPDUs within the specified time.
Parameters
Parameter Name | Parameter Meaning |
---|---|
[vlan-id] | Indicates the VLAN ID. |
[port-name] | Indicates the port name. |

---|---|
[vlan-id] | Indicates the VLAN ID. |
[port-name] | Indicates the port name. |
Procedure
- View physical devices on the network to check whether a
new physical link that has VBST enabled is added.
- If a new physical link that has VBST enabled is added, go to Step 2.
- If no new physical link that has VBST enabled is added, go to Step 3.
- Check whether the added physical link is necessary.
- If the added physical link is necessary, go to Step 3.
- If the added physical link is unnecessary, go to Step 4.
- Run the display stp [ vlan vlan-id ] [ interface interface-type
interface-number | slot slot-id ] [ brief ] command
to check whether the interfaces are consistent with the VBST calculation
results.
- If the interfaces are consistent with the VBST calculation results, no action is required.
- If the interfaces are inconsistent with the VBST calculation results, go to Step 5.
- Correctly deploy the network topology, and then check whether the log persists. If the log persists, go to Step 5.
- Collect trap, log, and configuration information, and contact technical support personnel.

VBST/3/VLANERR
Message
VBST/3/VLANERR: Because the limit of STP instances is exceeded, VLAN: [vlan-id] failed to enable.
Description
When VBST is enabled in VLANs in a batch, the VLANs where VBST fails to be enabled are recorded.
Possible Causes
There are limitations on VLAN specifications. When VBST is enabled in VLANs in a batch, VBST fail to be enabled in some VLANs.
Procedure
- Run the display stp brief command to check the VLANs
where VBST is enabled. Check whether the number of VLANs exceeds the
specifications.
If the number of VLANs does not exceed the specifications, go to step 2.
- Collect traps, logs, and configuration, and contact technical support personnel.
