Context
LLDP is compatible with protocols of other manufacturers. As shown in Figure 3-8, the NMS needs to obtain topology about Huawei device SwitchA and non-Huawei device SwitchB. CDP-compatible LLDP can be enabled
on SwitchA so that SwitchA can receive and resolve CDP packets from SwitchB. In this way, SwitchA can obtain status information of SwitchB, and the NMS can obtain the topology information.
CDP refers to Cisco Discovery Protocol
and is the Cisco proprietary link layer discovery protocol.
