Configuring Association Between BFD and a Card
Context
After VRRP is enabled on a switch used as the aggregation device and gateway, VRRP Advertisement packets are forwarded through a Layer 2 switch at the access layer. To improve the VRRP switching performance, associate VRRP with BFD. In this case, BFD packets are also forwarded through a Layer 2 switch at the access layer.
If uplink outbound interfaces of a VRRP group are located on the same card, the card reset may cause a failure to forward user traffic because there is no outbound interface. In this situation, a VRRP active/standby switchover must be performed. The link monitored by BFD is normal and the BFD session does not go Down, so the millisecond-level switching performance cannot be ensured. After a BFD session is associated with a card and the card is set, the BFD session immediately goes Down, triggering the VRRP active/standby switchover. The switching performance is therefore improved.
The device supports this command only when the MPU is MPUA, MPUE or MPUD.
