The difference (increase or decrease) in the broadcast traffic volume change in the inbound direction of interfaces exceeded the threshold.
Attribute

CurrentInputBroadcastRate |
Indicates the broadcast packet rate in the inbound direction of interfaces in the current traffic statistics collection interval. |
BaseInputBroadcastRate |
Indicates the base broadcast packet rate in the inbound direction of interfaces. |
Impact on the System
- If the CurrentInputBroadcastRate value is greater than or equal to the sum of the BaseInputBroadcastRate and InputBroadcastChangeThreshold values, packet loss may occur on the switch.
- If the CurrentInputBroadcastRate value is less than or equal to the BaseInputBroadcastRate value minus the InputBroadcastChangeThreshold value, there is no impact.
Possible Causes
- If the CurrentInputBroadcastRate value is greater than or equal to the sum of the BaseInputBroadcastRate and InputBroadcastChangeThreshold values, a loop might occur on the network and caused a broadcast storm.
- If the CurrentInputBroadcastRate value is less than or equal to the BaseInputBroadcastRate value minus the InputBroadcastChangeThreshold value, the broadcast traffic volume in the inbound direction of interfaces restored.
The sudden traffic volume increase trap and sudden traffic volume change clear trap are timed respectively. After a sudden traffic volume increase trap or sudden traffic volume change clear trap is generated, the switch will not generate the trap again within 10 minutes.
Procedure
- If the CurrentInputBroadcastRate value is greater than or equal to the sum of the BaseInputBroadcastRate and InputBroadcastChangeThreshold values, check whether the broadcast traffic volume increase is normal. If not, check whether a loop exists on the link.
- If the CurrentInputBroadcastRate value is less than or equal to the BaseInputBroadcastRate value minus the InputBroadcastChangeThreshold value, this trap is informational only, and no action is required.

OID | Indicates the MIB object ID of the alarm. |
InterfaceIndex | Interface index. |
InterfaceName | Interface name. |
Statistics | Statistics on discarded packets due to a congestion. |
TrapThreshold | Threshold for discarded packets due to a congestion. |
TrapInterval | Interval for collecting statistics on discarded packets due to a congestion. |
Impact on the System
If this alarm is reported, a serious congestion occurs on the network. If the congestion is not processed in time, more packets will be discarded on the network, affecting normal operation of services.
Possible Causes
The number of discarded incoming packets on an interface due to a network congestion exceeds the threshold.
Procedure
- Run the display this command in the
interface view to check whether rate limit is performed in the inbound
direction of the interface.
- If so, go to step 2.
- If not, go to step 3.
- Run the qos lr inbound cir cir-value [ cbs cbs-value ] command in the interface view to
modify the rate limit configuration or run the undo qos lr
inbound command in the interface view to delete the rate
limit configuration. Then check whether the alarm is cleared.
- If so, no further action is required.
- If not, go to step 3.
- Run the trap-threshold { input-discard | output-discard } threshold threshold-value command in the interface view
to modify the alarm threshold for the number of discarded packets
on the interface due to a congestion or run the trap-threshold { input-discard | output-discard } interval interval-value command in the interface view to modify the interval for reporting
an alarm if packets are discarded on the interface due to a congestion
depending on the services on the device. Then check whether the alarm
is cleared.
- If so, no further action is required.
- If not, go to step 4.
- Obtain log and configuration files and contact technical support personnel.
