Impact on the System
If a slot-based MAC address learning limit rule is configured using the mac-limit maximum 10 action discard alarm enable command to limit the maximum number of MAC addresses that can be learned and discard excess packets when the maximum number is reached, all subsequent packets are discarded when the number of MAC addresses learned from packets on the specified board exceeds the value specified in max.
If a slot-based MAC address learning limit rule is configured using the mac-limit maximum 10 action forward alarm enable command to limit the maximum number of MAC addresses that can be learned and discard excess packets when the maximum number is reached, the device directly forwards all subsequent packets when the number of MAC addresses learned from packets on the specified board exceeds the value specified in max, without adding their MAC addresses to the MAC address table.
Possible Causes
A slot-based MAC address learning limit rule was configured to limit the maximum number of MAC addresses that can be learned and report an alarm when the maximum number was reached or exceeded. In addition, the number of MAC addresses dynamically learned from packets on the board reached or exceeded the specified maximum number.
Procedure
- Run any of the following commands:
- Run the mac-limit slot slot maximum max command in the system view to enlarge the number of MAC addresses that can be learned.
- Run the undo mac-address command in the system view to delete some or all MAC addresses.
Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.
If the alarm is cleared, go to Step 3.
If the alarm persists, go to Step 2.
- Collect alarm information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.
- End.
L2IF_1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.42.2.1.7.14 hwSlotMacLimitNumFallingThreshold
Description

L2IF_1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.42.3.1.4.4 hwMuxVlanGroupCountExceedThreshold
Description
L2IF/4/MUXVLAN_COUNT_THRESHOLD: OID [oid] The number of group VLANs of the MUX-VLAN's primary VLAN exceeded the upper threshold. (PrincipalVLANId=[INTEGER], UpperThreshold=[INTEGER])
The number of group VLANs configured in the MUX-VLAN's principal VLAN exceeded the upper threshold.
Parameters
Name | Meaning |
---|---|
oid |
Indicates the MIB object ID of the alarm. |
PrincipalVLANId |
Principal VLAN ID |
UpperThreshold |
Upper threshold for the number of group VLANs |
Possible Causes
The number of group VLANs configured in the MUX-VLAN's principal VLAN exceeded the upper threshold.
Procedure
- Run the display
mux-vlan command to check whether interfaces have
been added to the corresponding VLAN, whether interfaces are Up and
available and have traffic, and whether all group VLANs are being
used. If there is any group VLAN that is not being used, run the undo subordinate group vlan-id1 to [ vlan-id2 ] command in the VLAN view to delete
the group VLAN. Check whether the alarm is cleared.
- If the alarm is cleared, go to Step 3.
- If the alarm persists, go to Step 2.
- Collect alarm information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.
- End.
L2IF_1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.42.3.1.4.5 hwMuxVlanGroupCountExceedThresholdResume
Description
L2IF/4/MUXVLAN_COUNT_THRESHOLD_RESUME: OID [oid] The number of group VLANs of the MUX-VLAN's primary VLAN fell below the lower threshold. (PrincipalVLANId=[INTEGER], LowerThreshold=[INTEGER])
The number of group VLANs configured in the MUX-VLAN's principal VLAN fell below the upper threshold.
Parameters
Name | Meaning |
---|---|
OID |
Indicates the MIB object ID of the alarm. |
PrincipalVLANId |
Principal VLAN ID |
LowerThreshold |
Upper threshold for the number of group VLANs |

Description
L2IF/4/VLANTRANS_COUNT_THRESHOLD: OID [oid] The number of vlan mapping or vlan stacking configurations on the interface exceeded the upper threshold. (PortIndex=[INTEGER], UpperThreshold=[INTEGER])
The number of VLAN mapping configurations, VLAN stacking configurations, or both on the interface exceeded the upper threshold.
Parameters
Name | Meaning |
---|---|
oid |
Indicates the MIB object ID of the alarm. |
PortIndex |
Interface index |
UpperThreshold |
Upper threshold for the number of VLAN mapping configurations, VLAN stacking configurations, or both on the interface |
Possible Causes
The number of VLAN mapping configurations, VLAN stacking configurations, or both on the interface exceeded the upper threshold.
Procedure
- Check whether all interfaces having port vlan-stacking and port vlan-mapping configurations
are Up and available and have traffic, and whether all VLAN mapping
or VLAN stacking configurations have taken effect. Run the undo port vlan-mapping and undo port vlan-stacking commands
in the corresponding interface view to delete ineffective VLAN mapping
or VLAN stacking configurations. Check whether the alarm is cleared.
- If the alarm is cleared, go to Step 3.
- If the alarm persists, go to Step 2.
- Collect alarm information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.
- End.
