Configuring a VE Interface
Context
Only the S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-HI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S support VE interface configuration.
Procedure
- Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
- Run interface virtual-ethernet ve-number
A VE interface is created and the VE interface view is displayed.
- Configure a VE interface based on actual requirements.
- Configure the VE interface to work in Layer 2 mode.
Run portswitch
The working mode of the VE interface is changed from Layer 3 mode to Layer 2 mode.
By default, a VE interface works in Layer 3 mode.
- Configure a VE sub-interface.
You need to create a VE sub-interface when configuring an L2VPN to access to an L3VPN.
- Run ve-group ve-group-id { l2-terminate | l3-access }
A Layer 2 or Layer 3 VE interface is created.
- Run quit
Return to the system view.
- Run interface virtual-ethernet ve-number.subnumber
A VE sub-interface is created and the VE sub-interface view is displayed.
- Run ve-group ve-group-id { l2-terminate | l3-access }
- Configure the VE interface to work in Layer 2 mode.
