Removing a Fan Module
This section describes how to remove a fan module.
Impact on the System
An SVP must be powered off before the replacement. As a result, services and programs running on the SVP will be interrupted.
Prerequisite
- You have removed the chassis cover from the SVP. For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.
- You have located the position of the fan module to be replaced in the SVP.
- You have obtained the rack number and chassis number of the SVP.
- You have located the SVP based on the preceding information, and labeled its panel to prevent misoperations.
Tools and Materials
- ESD gloves or ESD wrist strap
- Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
Procedure
- Open the memory windows on the air duct. See step (1) in Figure 5-75.
- Lift the fan module slowly out of the SVP. See step (2) in Figure 5-75.
- Remove the fan module from the slot.
- Place the removed fan module in an ESD bag.
