Removing the SVP
This section describes how to remove the SVP.
Impact on the System
An SVP must be powered off before the replacement. As a result, services and programs running on the SVP will be interrupted.
Prerequisite
The SVP is heavy so that at least two persons are required to move it.
- A spare SVP for replacement is ready.
- The SVP that you want to replace has been located.
- Data is backed up for the SVP before it is removed. The following data needs to be backed up:
- IP address of a management network port on the SVP
- User names and passwords of all SVP built-in users
- User names and passwords separately created by the Windows operating system, which must be re-created and re-added after the SVP replacement
- User name and password of the storage system
- Data in Windows VMs
- License (Backup is needed when OfficeScan License is in use. For details about how to back up the license, see Backing Up the OfficeScan License.)
- All running services and programs on the SVP are stopped, then power off the SVP.
Tools and Materials
- ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves
- Flat-head screwdriver
Procedure
- Power off the SVP.
- Disconnect all power cables and signal cables from the SVP.
- Loosen the captive screws on the SVP panel using a screwdriver. See step (1) in Figure 5-85.
- Pull out the SVP along the guide rails away from the rack. See step (2) in Figure 5-85.
- Place the removed SVP on the ESD table.
