Removing an AC Power Module
This section describes how to remove an AC power module before replacing it with a new one.
Impact on the System
In the process of replacing a power module on an SVP, if the redundant power supply on the SVP fails unexpectedly, the SVP will be powered off. As a result, all services running on the SVP will be interrupted.
Prerequisite
- If the SVP has two power modules configured, you can remove one power module without powering off the SVP. Before removing the power module, make sure that the other power module is working properly and its power rating is greater than or equal to the rated power of the whole SVP.
- You have determined the position on the SVP for removing a power module.
- You have obtained the rack number and chassis number of the SVP.
- You have located the SVP based on the preceding information, and labeled its panel to prevent misoperations.
Tools and Materials
- ESD gloves or ESD wrist strap
- Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
Procedure
- (Optional) If only one power module is configured, power off the SVP.
- Open the cable tie for the power cable. See Figure 5-79.
- Remove the power cable from the power module to be replaced. See Figure 5-80.
- Press the spring on the power module in the arrow direction. Hold the handle and pull the power module out of the slot. See steps (1) and (2) in Figure 5-81.
- Place the removed power module in an ESD bag.
