Connecting a Ground Cable
Context
The ground cable must be correctly connected to protect the device against lightning and interference.
Do not power on the Atlas 500 before you finish connecting cables.
Preparing Tools and Accessories
Phillips screwdriver
ESD wrist strap
Multimeter
Ground cable
M6 screw (separately purchased)
Procedure
- Wear an ESD wrist strap.
For details, see ESD Protection.
- Connect a ground cable.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the M4 screw from the ground point on the rear panel of the device. Keep the M4 screw in an appropriate place for later use.
Align the M4 terminal of the ground cable with the screw hole on the ground terminal, and tighten the M4 screw with a torque of 1.4 N m.
Connect the M6 terminal of the ground cable to the ground terminal on the wall or DIN rail, and tighten the M6 screw with a torque of 4.8 N m.

Follow-up Procedure
Perform the following operations after connecting the ground cable:
Check that the ground cable is securely connected to the ground terminals.
Use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the ground terminals at two ends of the ground cable. The resistance must be smaller than 5 ohm.
