Removing a LUN
This section describes how to remove a LUN from a PG.
Prerequisites
The members of the PG are LUNs.
If the members in a protection group are LUN groups, remove LUNs from the LUN groups. Choose Services > Block Service > LUN Groups, select a LUN group from which you want to remove LUNs, and remove LUNs from the LUN group as instructed. For details, see Removing a LUN in the Basic Storage Service Configuration Guide for Block specific to your product model and version. You can select or deselect Remove LUN from Remote LUN Group when removing LUNs from a LUN group on the primary storage device. The parameter is described as follows:
- This option is deselected by default. In this scenario, LUNs are removed from the LUN group but related remote replication pairs are not removed. If you want to remove remote replication pairs in the subsequent operations, you must add LUNs to the LUN group and then remove LUNs again.
- If this option is selected, LUNs and related remote replication pairs will be removed from the remote LUN group.
For a LUN group on the secondary storage system, you can only remove secondary LUNs from the LUN group.
Procedure
- Choose Data Protection > Protection Entities > Protection Groups > Protection Groups.
- Click More on the right of a PG and select Remove LUN.
The Remove LUN page is displayed on the right.
Alternatively, perform any of the following operations to remove LUNs:
- Click the name of the desired PG. In the upper right corner of the page that is displayed, select Remove LUN from the Operation drop-down list.
- Click the name of the desired PG. On the page that is displayed, click the Members tab, select the desired LUNs, and click Remove.
- Click the value in the LUNs column of the desired PG if the value is not 0. On the Members tab page, select the desired LUNs and click Remove.
- In the Available LUNs area, select one or more LUNs.
- Skip this step if you remove LUNs from the Members tab page.
- If a remote replication consistency group (CG) has been created for the PG, the related or remote replication pair will be removed from the CG after you remove a LUN.
- Click OK.
Confirm your operation as prompted.
