Performing a Primary/Secondary Switchover for a Remote Replication CG
This section describes how to switch the roles of primary and secondary LUNs of all the remote replication pairs in a remote replication CG. If the primary LUN in the remote replication CG is faulty, you can perform a primary/secondary switchover. This operation enables the secondary LUN to become new primary LUN, replacing the faulty primary LUN to ensure service data continuity.
Prerequisites
- A primary/secondary switchover can be performed on a synchronous remote replication CG when the following requirements are met:
- Running Status is Split, Secondary Resource Data Status is Synchronized, and protection for secondary resource is enabled.
- Running Status is Split, Secondary Resource Data Status is Consistent, and protection for secondary resource is disabled.
- A primary/secondary switchover can be performed on an asynchronous remote replication CG when the following requirements are met:
Running Status is Split, Secondary Resource Data Status is Consistent, and protection for secondary resource is disabled.
Procedure
- Choose Data Protection > Protection Entities > Protection Groups > Remote Replication CGs.
- Select the remote replication CG on which you want to perform a primary/secondary switchover and choose More > Primary/Secondary Switchover.Confirm your operation as prompted.
You can also perform a primary/secondary switchover on a remote replication CG as follows:
- Click More on the right of the desired remote replication CG and select Primary/Secondary Switchover.
- Click the name of the remote replication CG. In the upper right corner of the page that is displayed, click Operation and select Primary/Secondary Switchover.
- Choose Services > Block Service > LUN Groups. Click the name of the desired LUN group. On the page that is displayed on the right, click the Protection tab, and then select Remote Replication from the drop-down list. Select the remote replication CG on which you want to perform a primary/secondary switchover and choose More > Primary/Secondary Switchover.
- Choose Data Protection > Protection Entities > Protection Groups > Protection Groups.
- Click the name of the desired PG. On the page that is displayed on the right, click the Protection tab, and then select Remote Replication from the drop-down list. Select the remote replication CG on which you want to perform a primary/secondary switchover and choose More > Primary/Secondary Switchover.
- If the value of Remote Replication CGs is not 0, click the value. Select the remote replication CG on which you want to perform a primary/secondary switchover and choose More > Primary/Secondary Switchover.
