Configuring SmartQoS
Before configuring SmartQoS, ensure that you have the read and write permissions for SmartQoS, and obtain the I/O characteristics of LUNs by using the service monitoring function of storage systems. Then configure SmartQoS policies based on the I/O characteristics to control traffic, thereby ensuring continuity of critical services.
- Configuration Process
This section describes the SmartQoS configuration process. - Checking the SmartQoS License
Before configuring SmartQoS, ensure that the license file in use grants the permission to use SmartQoS. - Monitoring Application Performance
The storage system's built-in performance monitoring function provides visibility into object performance. This function helps you know the service level agreement (SLA) requirement of each application and adjust the performance objectives of SmartQoS accordingly, thereby ensuring performance of critical services. - Creating a SmartQoS Policy
A SmartQoS policy defines a group of I/O classes and their performance objectives, telling a storage system what performance objectives the I/O classes have and how to achieve those objectives.
