Enabling GMAC Ping to Detect Layer 2 Network Connectivity
Context
Similar to IP ping, GMAC ping efficiently detects and locates Ethernet faults and monitors link quality.
CE12800E that has the ED-E/EG-E/EGA-E series cards installed does not support this function.
Procedure
- Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
- Run the ping mac enable command to globally enable GMAC ping.
By default, GMAC ping is disabled.
After GMAC ping is enabled on the device, the device can ping the remote device and respond to the received GMAC ping packets.
- Run the commit command to commit the configuration.
- Run the ping mac mac-address vlan vlan-id [ interface interface-type interface-number | -c count | -s packetsize | -t timeout ] * command to perform GMAC ping to check connectivity of the link between the local device and the remote device.
